Casebook of Public and Patient Engagement Evaluation in Health Research, Health Systems and Policy

Looking for an opportunity to share the learnings from your public and patient engagement evaluation activities? The Public and Patient Engagement Collaborative is seeking submissions for a casebook on this topic. 

Call for Submissions

Evaluating the impacts of engagement activities can help demonstrate the value of this work, support further investments, and measure key outcomes. The Public and Patient Engagement Collaborative is inviting a wide range of submissions that showcase how various frameworks, tools, and methods have been used to evaluate the impacts of public and patient engagement in health research, systems, or policy. Whether your work involves engaging patients, families, caregivers, or community members, we want to hear from you! 

Full case submissions deadline: December 15, 2024

Why Submit?

  • Share Insights: Contribute to advancing the field of public and patient engagement evaluation by sharing valuable insights and findings from your public and/or patient engagement evaluation. 
  • Showcase Your Work: Highlight your expertise and shape future practices in health research, systems or policy.
  • Get Published: Your case will be included in an open access casebook publication that will be made widely available to the health research, systems and policy communities in Summer/Fall 2025.

Submission Details

Case Length

Each submission should be up to 1500 words (three single-spaced pages) excluding references and appendices. 

Topics of Interest

We welcome cases from a wide range of health research, health systems, policy and engagement contexts. 

Casebook Template

Cases will cover the following topics: 

  • Description of engagement activity and evaluation process
  • Key evaluation results and findings 
  • Key successes and challenges related to measuring the impacts of engagement 
  • Recommendations for future evaluation work

Submission Process

Individuals and groups interested in making a submission are invited to provide some basic information about their proposed case by completing the information form

Feedback and decisions on proposed case submissions will be provided in two weeks along with a template to be used to prepare the full case. Complete submissions will be reviewed by a panel of researchers and patient partners with feedback provided on structure and content. Submissions in English and French are welcome.
